5. Greening our neighbourhoods

Cool and shady streets for our neighbourhoods.

Delivering cool and shady streets and places to connect and enhance our neighbourhoods and promote biodiversity, resilience and community wellbeing.

To do this the Strategy identifies the need to:

  • Implement the Street Tree Master Plan 
  • Implement the Recreation Parks Plan 
  • Investigate the role and function of urban greening and incorporate into planning and decision making 
  • Investigate feasibility of identifying 'green infrastructure' as a new appreciating asset class derived from the multiple benefits it provides to our community
  • Develop canopy cover targets and increase urban greening to support community health and wellbeing.
