The Environment and Liveability Strategy Refresh Project
Ensuring a future-focused and contemporary approach to deliver a healthy environment and liveable Sunshine Coast.
Our Environment and Liveability Strategy was adopted by Council in 2017. It provides long-term strategic direction to guide growth and shape the Sunshine Coast for future generations to 2041.
The award-winning strategy provides a clear vision and forward plan, responding to key drivers of change for the region. It includes 12 themes and Transformational Actions to achieve multiple ecological, economic, and socio-cultural outcomes.
Since adoption, the strategy has supported the delivery of many integrated environment and liveability outcomes since adoption. Visit here to learn about the achievements made.
In 2023, the Strategy Refresh project commenced to ensure our environment and liveability strategic directions remain future focussed and continue to provide a contemporary approach. In October 2023, Council adopted the refreshed Environment and Liveability Strategy’s Part A: Strategic Directions and Part B: Five-year Implementation Plan following community feedback.
Across 2025 the strategy’s Part C: Network Plan is being reviewed and updated as the final phase of the Refresh Project. The Part C: Network Plan provides technical guidance to assist with the implementation of the strategy and the delivery of integrated on-ground outcomes.
