New Yandina dog park gets paws-up approval

Let’s go for a run!

Did you know the Sunshine Coast Environment and Liveability Strategy is not just for two-legged creatures?

In the process of planning and protecting locations for future green spaces across the coast and encouraging healthy and active living, park areas for our dogs have not been forgotten.

In consultation with the local community, in September 2025 Council opened a brand-new fenced dog exercise area at Tea Tree Park, Pioneer Road Yandina.

The new space features secure dog fencing, expansive turf for off-leash play and socialising, a concrete pathway, and park furniture including seating, a dog tap and doggy drink bowls.

The new fenced dog off-leash area covers around 2000 square metres. The location was chosen to minimise impact on existing open spaces while making the most of existing park infrastructure.

Off-leash areas are more than just places to play – they’re hubs for social connection and wellbeing, for both dogs and their owners. They also give pets and their humans yet another reason to get active and social.

Tea Tree Park now joins a growing network of 47 dog exercise areas across the Sunshine Coast, including 22 fenced parks, 14 unfenced areas, and 11 beach sections.
