Creating great places and spaces for play
More places to play, relax and enjoy nature.
In 2024–25, a number of parks and playgrounds were opened and upgraded giving families and communities more fun, safe, and inclusive places to enjoy.
A brand-new playground was opened at Concert Avenue Park in Palmview. This vibrant four-hectare park stretches over 450 metres and features:
- elevated play towers
- tunnel mounds
- bird nest swings
- spinners and slides
- kick and throw lawns with soccer goals
- static gym equipment
- one kilometre of pedestrian and cycle circuits.
Designed to promote active lifestyles for all ages, the park has quickly become a popular spot for fitness classes, family outings, and community gatherings.
Several existing playgrounds across the region also received upgrades, including:
- Charles Clarke Park, Mooloolaba
- Lions and Norrie Job Park, Coolum Beach
- La Balsa Park, Buddina
- Forestwood Drive Park, Buderim
- Power Memorial Park, Mudjimba.
At Power Memorial Park, the upgraded playground pays tribute to two local icons: the ex-HMAS Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast’s surf lifesaving teams. The design features a bright red and yellow lifeguard tower and a play structure shaped like the bow of the HMAS Brisbane, complete with fish. Learn more.
These improvements are part of Council’s commitment to delivering the Environment and Liveability Strategy, which aims to create great places and spaces that are accessible, active, and adaptable for all ages.
