Land for Wildlife

Supporting landholders to protect native plants and animals on their property.

Land for Wildlife is a free, voluntary conservation program.

Land for Wildlife is a voluntary program that helps landholders to protect and enhance wildlife habitat on their properties. The program recognises the importance of a collaborative approach to conservation. Landholders receive assistance to develop a personalised plan for their property. Through the Environment Levy, participants receive incentives such as native plant seedlings and nest boxes.

The Sunshine Coast Land for Wildlife program has the largest membership of any other local government area participating in the national program. Across our region more than 1,000 landholders are collectively restoring more than 8,000 hectares of land.

Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share.
We commit to working in partnership with the Traditional Custodians and the broader First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) community to support self-determination through economic and community development.
