Regional Erosion and Sediment, Education and Trial (RESET)
A purpose-built erosion and sediment control training facility and education program.
Our waterways and ocean environments are fragile. Effectively managing sediment from development activity entering our waterways is critical to improving catchment health and water quality, and to meet our ELS target for waterways and wetlands to be in good to excellent health across our coastal catchments. To do this, we need to improve erosion and sediment control (ESC) compliance and practice across the region.
Council’s Environment Levy supported the construction of the Regional Erosion & Sediment, Education & Trial (RESET) site. A purpose-built ESC facility running group education courses, allowing for practical, on-ground education in ESC management and a space to enhance ESC knowledge across all sectors.
Since operation, 8 internal ESC101 training courses have been successfully delivered and most recently, Council teamed up with the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) to play host to 2 industry field days. There were over 150 people taken through the site to witness how Sunshine Coast Council is leading the way and setting the standard in ESC across the region.
