New homes for people who keep community running

Stage one of 22 homes delivered to support essential workers.

The Marcoola Affordable Housing Project is the first of its kind in the region.

Council, with help from the Queensland Government, is building 22 modular homes on land owned by Council. These homes include one-, two-, and three-bedroom options with outdoor spaces. Eight new homes were delivered as the first stage of 22 to provide affordable housing for low-income key workers including those in health, aged care, retail, and hospitality sectors.

This project supports the Council’s Environment and Liveability Strategy, especially the goal to build strong, connected neighbourhoods. By offering homes close to jobs, it helps keep important workers in the area and supports the local community.

The Queensland Government’s $2 billion Housing Investment Fund is supporting Council to deliver these homes.
