A snapshot of achievements for 2019/20

Council continues to invest in environment and liveability initiatives, so our region remains a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Expanding our open space by securing more than 120 hectares of additional land, proactively planning for the impacts of climate change and being recognised for our sustainable practices are just a few of council’s achievements in the 2019/20 environment and liveability report.

Three annual reports are now available to view:

  1. The Environment and Liveability Strategy Annual Report [1475KB]
  2. Environment Levy Program Annual Report [14114KB]
  3. Organisational Environmental Sustainability Benchmarking Annual Report.

The reports highlight achievements including:

  • strategic land acquisitions to expand our green spaces
  • planning and delivery of great places and spaces across the region
  • delivery of sustainability-focused events and initiatives including the Living Smart Program
  • Continued support and partnerships with our community to deliver a healthy environment and liveable Sunshine Coast.
Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Sunshine Coast Country, home of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples, the Traditional Custodians, whose lands and waters we all now share.
We commit to working in partnership with the Traditional Custodians and the broader First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) community to support self-determination through economic and community development.
