Once again, our strategy is helping to contribute to the health and safety of our communities.
The Sunshine Coast Council is investing $5.5 million in lifeguard services across the region in 2020/21. This includes a new lifeguard tower and lifeguard service at Bokarina Beach. The service will be operational in time for the September 2020 school holidays.
Setting formal access points along the coast where our residents and visitors can safely swim preserves and sustains our valued coastal lifestyle, helps keep our coast healthy and supports community health and safety.
Providing dedicated lifeguards is an essential part of our healthy, smart and creative lifestyle.
In line with council's long term strategy to build a pathway to a healthy environment and liveable Sunshine Coast in 2041, council required the local developer to fund the beach access and related ancillary facilities, including the fabrication of the new lifeguard tower, recently installed by council.
