The Blue Heart is an area of more than 5,000 hectares in the Maroochy River floodplain. It contains important environmental features and acts as a critical flood storage area to protect the catchment from flood impacts.
It's an area where effective land and water management will proactively respond to a transitioning landscape whilst delivering a variety of integrated environmental, social and economic outcomes.
At its core is an area of around 1,200 hectares, which is under the care and control of Blue Heart partners:
