A sustainable and liveable future in our region as our population grows will include a shift towards living in self-contained neighbourhoods that deliver affordable and less resource intensive lifestyles.

We are working with our community, local developers and the state government to help test and demonstrate design options for self-contained living so our community can experience first-hand what this lifestyle can offer.

To do this, we plan to:

  • work with industry, community and research institutes
  • establish a pilot eco-neighbourhood as a living lab
  • demonstrate how smart city technology can support energy and resource efficiency, reduce waste and support affordable living.
